The challenge was to transform a technical and hidden object into recognisable and authoritative content, capable of communicating clearly with commercial and institutional stakeholders. The result is content that makes visible what allows the technology to function efficiently and safely, through aesthetically valuable and versatile communication language.
An essential component to bring to the surface
Within the battery system, the Battery Cell Cap provides insulation, manages energy flow and contributes to the safety of the entire module. The first step of the project was to analyse these functions with the aim of defining a language capable of bringing out the real value of the component: this required a balance between technical accuracy and accessibility of the message.
Form, function and connection as a narrative guide
To give structure to the story, a narrative concept based on three dimensions was defined: form, function and connection. Form refers to the design precision and details that characterise Freudenberg components; function represents cell protection, insulation and energy flow regulation; connection defines the role of the BCC in connecting the cell to the system and enabling the controlled transfer of energy. This approach made it possible to immediately clarify the contribution of the BCC without resorting to overly technical language.
Between visual abstraction and real application
The creation of 3D renderings, carried out in collaboration with Umberto Gnocchi, required accurate modelling of each part of the component, with attention to materials, surfaces and mechanical interactions. Animation and editing alternate technical close-ups with wider sequences, so as to convey both engineering precision and the application context. The abstract environments, inspired by the movement of energy, highlight the main functions, while the scenes connect the component to its use. The sober, institutional colour palette and sound design consistent with the Freudenberg language contribute to creating a high-tech aesthetic.
A narrative designed for different levels of expertise
The video has been designed to be effective for different stakeholders, each with specific comprehension needs. For technical profiles, it highlights the role of the BCC in system continuity, safety and cell protection. For commercial functions, it becomes a useful tool for explaining the value, differentiation and contribution of the component to the overall quality of the system. For management, it provides a visual summary of Freudenberg’s innovative approach to designing components for electric mobility.
Giving visibility to what makes the system possible
The main value of the project lies in its ability to bring to the fore an element that, despite being fundamental to the safety and efficiency of the battery system, normally remains hidden. Through clear storytelling and aesthetics consistent with Freudenberg’s engineering language, the BCC is presented as a key element of the energy infrastructure: a device that contributes to the continuity, protection and reliability of the system. The result is content that does not merely describe a product, but highlights its strategic role and strengthens the company’s positioning.
